jj: It’s their first show in las vegas in over a decade. beautiful creatures is back and this weekend they a bringing sunset strip to vegas. this morning is alex grossi and ken. what sparked this reunion? >> we were all on mon monster rock cruise last year, playing in different bands and we got together pool side for the first time in a long time and spoke and got up on stage and did a beautiful creatures song.
It went over really well and the next thing you know people were wondering are you continuing with this? we did. we started basically where we left off with the deuce record.
We remixed it and remastered it, and added another sopping and released it a couple months ago. jj: some of your songs ended up on big shows, like sons of anarchy and in the show with sandra baluch. >> and then the proposal, which that show is still on tv, i saw it last week, it sort of kept everything going and kept us on people’s radar if you will.
We have gotten really lucky with landi placement throughout our careers. jj: i would say. >> even the first record we had something on rolling ball a valentine and smallville. that’s always good because it helps broaden the band. jj: yeah, talk about your experiences while you were apart and how that shaped who you have become now as a band?
It’s weird. we would see each other every now and again hanging out. we always mentioned, let’s get back and do a show or do something and it never really materialides until that show. we all were busy doing other things.
Anthony Foxx, our other guitarist is a producer and engineer and does well with that like i said we all had other things going on. but once we gotten back together , it was almost like a day hadn’t gone by. it’s really cool. it’s always been a family-type band. >> yeah. jj: there wasn’t the typically angst and tension you hear about so often?
No, if that was the case, we wouldn’t have gotten back together. jj: what was the rerecording process like for you guy >> ab13 fox has really embraced the other sid of things as far as recording mixing and engineering, mastering. he was able to take the songs and record them and remix them and re-create them from the ground up. it’s been very organic if you wi and in-house. we come kind of di it, which is nice. kenny is good at graphics and video and photographer.
It’s organic and in-house and kind of happened. We didn’t plan any of it. jj: that’s fantastic. everybody will get to see that chemistry come together again th weekend. Tell us about the show. >> We are playing vamped on saturday night the 19th.
Playing with our goo friends faster pussy cat, if anything were to be sunset strip comes to vegas, beautiful creatures and faster pussy cat at least from our generation. jj: there are so many l.a. musicians who are making the move here to vegas. why do you think that is?
I think a lot more opportunity if you want to be in a cover band and go down that road and also cost of living and a lot of the clubs in hollywood are shut down. there are a lot of places here to play and things to do. jj: certainly glad you are here and look forward to the sho thanks. >> thank you.
